Final

http://www.writely.com/View.aspx?docid=ahwpwnfhnq29

Your final is attached. Simply open the file, proofread, make the necessary changes to the document, and then send it back before 10:00 p.m.

TONIGHT"S FINAL WILL BE AN ELECTRONIC TAKE HOME EXAM.

It looks like the weather is going to make it close to impossible for a lot of you to make it to class tonight, but UMUC has not cancelled this evening's classes and likely will not because it's final's week. Accordingly, since the final is "open book" anyway, I propose that you all take it from the comforts of your home or office this evening.

HOW TO TAKE YOUR FINAL:

At 6:45 p.m. I will send you a Microsoft Word document containing 2 pages of text that needs to be proofread. You will also be able to find a link to the file on the class Web site(http://engl278f.blogspot.com/) at that time.

You can make your changes directly to the text in that file. (You don't need to "track changes"; simply type in the changes as if you were editing a rough copy of one of your own drafts.)

Because proofreading off of a monitor screen can be difficult some of you may wish to print the piece out, make your edits on paper, and then type them into the file. Regardless of how you complete the task, you will need to e-mail your corrected version back to me NO LATER THAN 10:00 P.M. TONIGHT.

I will send you an e-mail confirmation that I have received your e-mail within a few minutes. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail from me within 10 minutes of sending your final back to me, send it again.

ONE LITTLE WARNING:

Microsoft Word has a built in spell checker and grammar checker that might seem to make this format a bit easier. You will see some possible corrections highlighted on screen in green and red underline;a spell-check will reveal others. However, you cannot always rely on Microsoft Word to be correct in its recommendations

***IF YOU HAVEN"T DONE SO YET, PLEASE SEND ME AN E-MAIL TO CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED THIS INFORMATION***

These are the rough reports from the four departments that make up KidsCount. Each is labeled with a heading in bold to tell you which department it comes from. Obviously, the rough reports are poorly written and contain numerous grammatical errors.
